JOHN HEARD (Tony Smith) has distinguished himself on screen, stage, and television through the broad spectrum of his work. Most recently, he has starred in Brian DePalma's "Snake Eyes," with Nicholas Cage, Steve Buscemi's "Animal Factory," Morgan J. Freeman's "Desert Blue," with Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon, and Kate Hudson, and Kevin Reynolds' "187," with Samuel L. Jackson. Heard recently completed work on the soon-to-be-released "Heresay," directed by Doug Campbell. Since his 1977 debut in "Between the Lines," Heard's many screen credits have included "Chilly Scenes of Winter," "Cutter's Way," "Deceived," "Ramblin' Rose," "Deceived," "Home Alone," "Home Alone II," "Radio Flyer," "Awakenings," "Big," "Beaches," "The Trip to Bountiful," "The Milagro Beanfield War," "Awakenings," "Betrayed," "Cat People," "After Hours," "Before and After," "In the Line of Fire," and "The Pelican Brief."
On television, he starred in the mini-series "Cross of Fire," the BBC's "Virtuoso," ABC's "Out on a Limb," "Dead Ahead: The Exxon Valdez Disaster" for HBO," and was featured in an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Tender is the Night," for Showtime. In addition, his other film credits include appearances on "The Sopranos," "The Outer Limits," "Law & Order," and a number of network movies of the week, such as CBS' "Wednesday Woman" and "Perfect Murder Perfect Town," as well as NBC's "Because Mommy Works."
On stage, Heard won a trio of Obie Awards for his work off-Broadway, in "G.R. Point," and in the New York Shakespeare Festival's productions of "Othello" and "Spirit." His Broadway credits include "Total Abandon" and "The Glass Menagerie." He most recently starred in Arthur Miller's "The Last Yankee" at the Manhattan Theatre Club.
